How this calculator works

The calculator finds the area you need to treat, then applies your chosen spread rate (in pounds per 1,000 square feet) to get total pounds needed, rounded up to whole 50 lb bags.

Worked example — a 50 ft × 12 ft driveway (600 sq ft) at the standard 4 lb/1,000 sq ft rate:
600 × (4 ÷ 1000) = 2.4 lb per application — well under one 50 lb bag, which is why a single bag usually lasts most driveways several applications.

Picking the right application rate

Use about 4 lb per 1,000 sq ft for a light, preventative coating on fresh snow. For packed ice or heavy buildup, bump that up to 8–10 lb per 1,000 sq ft. Applying more than needed wastes product and can harm nearby grass and concrete.
