How this calculator works
It calculates your bed or path area, adds 10% for overlapping seams and tucking edges, then divides by the square footage each roll covers — printed on the label.
Worked example — a 20 ft × 10 ft bed, 300 sq ft per roll:
200 sq ft × 1.10 = 220 sq ft ÷ 300 = 1 roll.
200 sq ft × 1.10 = 220 sq ft ÷ 300 = 1 roll.
Why overlap matters
Overlap seams by at least 6 inches so weeds can’t push through gaps. Pin the fabric every 18–24 inches and tuck edges under edging or stones to hold them down.
Frequently asked questions
How much landscape fabric do I need?
Measure your bed area, add 10% for overlaps, then divide by the roll’s square footage.
How do I keep landscape fabric from shifting?
Use landscape staples or pins every 18–24 inches, placed more closely on slopes and around curves.
